Day 3: Waikuku lodge - Patuna chasm walk

Vlog with our walk through the chasm

Adorned with more fantastic weather,  we set out to have a relaxing stroll through the chasm of Patuna.  Here is a description from Alex L. about the surroundings -

'The chasm walk is a quaint track running along a calm river surrounded by big limestone rock formations. Along the way there are many things to see, such as the pitch black eels swimming in the ice cold water, lush green trees poking out from between the dark grey rocks and the stalactites hanging from the high walls of the chasm. The stalactites looked liked dead bats that had been hanging there for many many years' - Alex La Hood

Day 2: Waikuku Lodge, South Wairarapa

Mr. Bill Taylor was the teacher responsible for this part of the camp.  He had prepared walks, bush talks, tent pitching and nightlines, to ame a few.  Bonding definitely happens when you are sharing a long drop for a couple of days!

Camp pics from Day 1 at Lake Ferry

What an exciting camp.  The students were really great and I hope they came home with high hopes for a positive year of learning in Mahi Ako and Room 6.  One of the most important intentions I had for this camp was building whanaungatanga,  a relationship through shared experiences and team work to gain a sense of belonging.  It is an integral part of having 31 personalities all working in a successful environment.

Here are some photos from day 1 at Lake Ferry.
